Dolby Laboratories and MegaboxJoongAng (Megabox) today announced a five-year agreement to equip Megabox theaters in Korea with Dolby technologies. With this deal, Megabox will deploy Dolby’s Auditorium Packages, including servers, processors, speakers, and amplifiers, to Megabox Anseong Starfield and Namyangju Hyundai Premium Outlets Space One, making it the first case of Dolby’s Auditorium Packages being installed in all 5.1/7.1 channel screens within a single multiplex.

CGV and IMAX Corporation have announced a broad expansion of their longstanding partnership with an agreement to launch 17 new theatres around the world. The concert film BTS World Tour, Love Yourself, in Seoul, will be released in CJ 4DPlex’s multi-screen ScreenX format on January 26 for a two-week run. The film was shot at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul last August and captures the opening of the current tour. The tour has already drawn thousands of fans spanning the world from North America to Europe and Asia, and has proved to be the most sought-after tour of 2018.
Lotte Cultureworks, a newly established subsidiary of Lotte Group that oversees the operations of Lotte Cinema, has purchased 120 Christie cinema projectors for deployment in its new multiplexes in South Korea, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Samsung Electronics today announced that it has installed its first commercial Cinema LED Screen at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Korea. The high dynamic range display is the result of collaboration between Harman Professional Solutions and Samsung Audio Lab.
