The Hollywood Professional Association and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers announced today that Felicia Yue, principal product manager at Amazon and veteran sports technology innovator, will be in conversation at the annual Women in Technology Luncheon on Thursday, November 12, presented by HPA Women in Post and SMPTE. The event takes place during the popular annual technology conference SMPTE 2020. Yue will be in conversation with Loren Nielsen and Kari Grubin, co-chairs of the HPA Women in Post Committee.

Following the lift of the first lockdown in London caused by the COVID-19 outbreak in early July, cinematographer Matteo Bangrazi and filmmaker Alfred George Bailey immediately jumped on set with the rest of their team to film the dance documentary I Still Breathe. The film is about a group of socially aware young adults who give extraordinary and deeply emotional testimonies of being black, mixed race, and white in London, England.
Technologist Jack Watts began his career in post-production in the Republic of Ireland. In 2013 he joined Technicolor in London where he was head of technology and development. He moved to Deluxe in London is 2015 as part of the joint venture between the two digital cinema business units at both companies. There he primarily focused on mastering solutions for digital cinema, and then eventually, the interoperable master format. There he acted as an internal consultant to the technical operations, client services and business development teams. Externally, there was also the need to consult the business’s premium studio clients.
Cooke Optics has announced that its chairman, Les Zellan, will be stepping down from the company, and its CEO, Robert Howard, will be retiring, both effective October 31. Tim Pugh will become CEO, while Kees van Oostrum, currently a Cooke Optics board member, will become the company’s non-executive chairman.
Samantha Uber has joined Goldcrest Post as conform artist/manager of workflow services and senior finishing editor. Uber will work with film and television clients in designing customized workflows to manage projects from the set through delivery. She will also act as a hands-on finishing editor.
