New York post house Running Man has selected MTI Film’s Cortex Dailies as the centerpiece of its dailies processing workflow for television, feature films, documentaries and other projects.

The first event will be February 12 at Rock Bottom Brewery in Bellevue, Washington and the second will be February 13 at Rock Bottom Brewery in Portland, Oregon. Both happy hours begin at 5 p.m. with free drinks and appetizers, followed by demos of Quantum StorNext 5 and Adobe Anywhere for video at 6 p.m.

Barcelona creative shop Trizz is known for its unconventional work, directing and designing for a mix of 3D, VFX and experience design, including multi-touch, interactive and projection mapping. Its work appears in TVCs, art galleries, publications and even during concerts and other live events. Chris Vulpi and Oriol Puig, who co-founded Trizz in 2009, say they have identified inefficiencies in the VFX and post industry and applied a more streamlined, workable model to their business.
Cospective has released Frankie 2.2, an update of the company’s browser-based video review tool. Along with a number of performance enhancements, Frankie 2.2 has introduced a Sync Options panel. Hosts can now switch between two different modes, choosing whether or not to allow guests to control sync.
HGST, a Western Digital company, and Maxx Digital have announced that Red Studios Hollywood has deployed the Maxx Digital Evo 6G 16-bay rack mount media server. The server is powered by 4TB HGST Ultrastar 7K4000 enterprise-class hard disk drives and configured with ATTO Raid controller to support capacity, bandwidth and performance needs for streaming and “screening” next-generation 4K, 5K and 6K high-resolution files.

Aframe’s cloud video production platform helped Timeline TV in Media City to expedite production for the second series of BBC Three’s zombie drama In the Flesh, the company announced. By streamlining the Avid-centric workflow and eliminating a time-consuming transcoding step, Aframe helped Timeline TV make rushes ready for the edit, and make viewing copies available to clients and executives in less than five hours, instead of the usual 35 hours.
More than 100 attendees joined West Coast video and film integration company Advanced Systems Group in San Francisco November 20 for its annual workshop, 4K Workflow 2013, which focused on the growing 4K landscape.
Frank DeMarco’s most recent assignment, All is Lost, was an opportunity for the cinematographer to re-team with director J.C. Chandor and to work with a legendary actor, Robert Redford. DeMarco and Chandor had success with their previous project, Margin Call, which scored at the box office and earned Chandor an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay. Like Margin Call, All is Lost was reportedly made for less than $10 million.
