Sully Graded at Technicolor LA

Clint Eastwood’s biographical drama Sully was color graded at Technicolor LA by colorist Maxine Gervais. Produced by Malpaso Productions, the film tells the true story of pilot Chesley Sully Sullenberger, portrayed by Tom Hanks, and applauds him as a hero after he safely landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in New York back in 2009, saving 155 lives.

Now in its 19th season, Midsomer Murders, produced by Bentley Productions for ITV, documents the investigation of grisly murders that take place in the otherwise idyllic and quintessentially English region of Midsomer. It is one of the highest rated TV dramas on British television, and has been sold around the world.

CGR Upgrades Premium Rooms with Christie

CGR Cinemas in France is upgrading its premium screens across its nationwide chain with Christie Solaria CP42LH RGB laser projectors. Cine Digital Service will manage and support the installations. The projectors will be part of CGR’s new Premium Room concept, which is to be unveiled at selected cinemas across France. Openings begin in December.

CinemaxX Mannheim Focuses on Sound

With 700 seats, the Kino 10 of CinemaxX Mannheim is among the largest cinemas in Baden-Württemberg. And at nearly 280 square meters, the screen is definitely the largest. Years ago Filmtheaterbetriebe Spickert Entertainment, operator of the CinemaxX installed an Alcons Cinemarray pro-ribbon system. The theatre has converted to Dolby Atmos and new Alcons technology has taken center stage.

Five New Films Coming in Dolby Cinema

Dolby Laboratories today announced five new titles to be shown at Dolby Cinema locations around the globe. The titles include Lionsgate’s Deepwater Horizon, due out September 30; Twentieth Century Fox’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, due out September 30; Sony Pictures’ Inferno, due out October 28; Lionsgate’s La La Land, due out December 16; and Legendary/Universal Pictures’ The Great Wall, due out February 17, 2017.

SMPTE Schedules Time Code Summits

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers will host a series of Time Code Summits to gather feedback that will contribute to the creation of a new Time Label standard. As the next-generation standard to SMPTE Time Code, widely viewed as one of the most important standards in the audio/video industry, the new Time Label standard will address the continuing, new, and emerging requirements of handling media across the cinema, broadcast, theatrical, music recording, concert, live entertainment, and theme park markets.

NEC Europe Launches NC1000C Projector

NEC Display Solutions Europe today launched the NC1000C, its second-generation digital cinema projector using NSH lamp technology, offering an enhanced cinema experience at theatres with smaller screens or small projection booths. The company says the new projector is compact, silent in operation and matches the specific demands of mobile cinema applications and theatres without dedicated projection booths.
