QSC sponsored the 2018 Vancouver International Film Festival which spanned sixteen days and ends today. QSC equipment was utilized in all seven venues, including the hearing assistance equipment in The Centre for the Performing Arts, the location of the opening and closing gala screenings. The project was particularly challenging because The Centre Theatre was not designed as a cinema. There are three seating levels in the 1800-seat theatre, and all of the equipment needed to be installed within two days.
The Open Geospatial Consortium and the Khronos Group are joining forces to advance open geospatial standards related to the fields of augmented and virtual reality, distributed simulation, and 3D content services. As part of the liaison, and through collaborative participation in OGC and Khronos initiatives, the two organizations will work jointly to develop use cases and requirements for open geospatial standards concerning 3D, virtual and augmented reality APIs, and related graphical representations.

CGR Cinemas has chosen Christie as its exclusive laser projection partner, as it moves to convert all 700 of its theatres to RGB pure laser technology. In a landmark agreement that sees CGR becoming the largest investor in Christie RealLaser systems in the world today, 200 CGR Classic auditoriums will be redeveloped for Christie RealLaser over the next two years.

Dolby Atmos momentum continues to grow globally with screens installed in more than 90 countries. More than 150 mixing facilities and more than 1,000 feature films are released, or have been announced to be released, with support from all major Hollywood studios as well as content creators around the world, including Asia Pacific, North America and Latin America.
