On August 16, Rising Alternative and Unitel Classica will present the opera Don Carlo in a live broadcast from the Salzburg Festival, according to the companies.
Jonas Kaufmann stars as Don Carlo, with Thomas Hampson as Marchese di Posa, Anja Harteros as Elisabetta di Valois, and Matti Salminen as King Philip rounding out the excellent cast. Antonio Pappano conducts.
Don Carlo will be the eighth title from the Salzburg Festival that Rising Alternative and Unitel Classica have broadcast to cinemas worldwide.
Following Don Carlo, and the previous great success of La Boheme, The Magic Flute, Romeo and Juliet, Benvenuto Cellini, Don Giovanni, Otello, and Cosi Fan Tutte audiences can look forward to next season’s cinema release of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
