Entries are now being accepted for the 43rd annual WorldFest-Houston film festival to be held April 9-18 2010. Early bird entries which qualify for a five-dollar discount per entry run until November 15th. January 15th 2010 is the final day to enter. As the organizers like to note WorldFest-Houston is one of the longest running film festivals in the world. It was started before there was Sundance or SXSW and before there was Toronto or Tribeca. It bills itself as the First Film Festival in the South and the third oldest International Film Festival in North America. The festival has helped launch the careers of several well-known filmmakers including Steven Spielberg George Lucas David Lynch Ang Lee Brian DePalma Oliver Stone Gavin Hood Jonathan Demme and The Coen Brothers all of whom won early honors at WorldFest-Houston. More information can be found on the festival website at http://www.worldfest.org.
