Cinedigm has named Andrew Barrett to the new position of director, digital marketing & strategy. Barrett, who will manage digital network marketing activities including paid media/advertising, social media and content marketing, was most recently director of marketing for Jukin Media. The announcement was made by Erick Opecka, Cinedigm's executive vice-president, Digital Networks.
In his new role Barrett will be responsible for implementing paid digital advertising and social campaigns for Cinedigm’s portfolio of digital streaming services, with the primary goal of driving traffic, app installations and subscriber acquisition. This role will be a key developer of strategic marketing initiatives, and is also responsible for managing both external agencies as well as internal teams as part of the division’s overall digital marketing strategy.
"Andrew's deep understanding and experience with all facets of digital marketing including social, mobile, web, experiential, viral, and media makes him ideally suited to help guide Cinedigm's digital future," said Opecka. Barrett will report to Faye Walker, senior vice president, customer acquisitions, digital networks.
At Jukin Media Barrett was responsible for the successful digital growth of the company's YouTube channels including FailArmy, BatDad, Logan Paul and CutiesNFuzzies, including developing and launching the new brand identity for JukinVideo across all digital channels, building it into one of the most viewed and trusted sources for short-form, user generated video content. He has appeared on panels and in online trade publications as a thought-leader for digital marketing strategy in the viral space. Prior to Jukin, Andrew was the social strategist for actor Tom Cruise where he handled the strategy, execution, and optimization of a global social audience of more than eight million fans. Previously he worked as the CRM Manager for Handmade Mobile Entertainment, the company behind the successful UK social dating app, Flirtamatic. He began his digital marketing career in his hometown of NYC working for Josh Harris and the groundbreaking online video entertainment company, PseudoTV. This led to opportunities developing the creative strategy for Michael Fuchs’s Broadway Digital Entertainment and then as the marketing lead for Sony Digital Entertainment. Andrew holds an MFA from the prestigious Iowa Playwright’s Workshop and has written for stage, TV and film.
“My time at Jukin afforded me the experience and relationships to build brands in the online video space," said Barrett, "and I’m excited to be able to take the expertise gained with short-form UGC and apply it to Cinedigm's more ambitious original, long form content."
