A new 4K restoration of David Schickele’s Bushman (1971) will make its North American debut this year, marking the first time in decades that this celebrated landmark of American independent cinema will be widely available. Overseen by the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive and The Film Foundation, the restoration will be distributed worldwide in all media by Milestone Films and Kino Lorber. Funding for the restoration was provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation, with additional support provided by Peter Conheim, Cinema Preservation Alliance.
Cinematographer Jerry Henry’s Emmy nomination for the sixth and final episode (Justice) of the Hulu Original TV Mini-docuseries The 1619 Project is just one of three Primetime Creative Arts Emmy nominations – including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series as well as Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program for the same episode (Adriana Pacheco, Jesse Allain-Marcus and Ephraim Kirkwood) – for the TV adaption of The 1619 Project created by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones and the New York Times Magazine released by Hulu in January and February of 2023.
Éléphant: The Memory of Québec Cinema has announced that its catalogue of more than 250 films can now be accessed directly on its website. All the feature films it has digitized and restored are now available in one place, without restriction, from anywhere in Canada. The move marks the 15th anniversary of Quebecor's largest philanthropic project, which was officially launched on November 18, 2008.

Writer-director Le Chau was born in Vietnam, moved to the United States when she was 22, and graduated from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television in 2023. Her short film Doldrums tells the story of a Vietnam War veteran’s experience in two time periods: in the midst of combat and in his modern-day civilian life.
Dolby Laboratories and award-winning nonprofit Ghetto Film School have announced the winners of the Dolby Institute x Ghetto Film School New Voices. New Visions. 2024 competition. This year, the competition encouraged applicants to create an original short film concept that exemplified their singular voice and vision and would benefit from Dolby Vision images and Dolby Atmos sound. The 2024 winning filmmakers are Dwayne LeBlanc, Antonello Velez, and the directing/writing duo Sarah Jean Williams and Luna Garcia.
