Ever since the first trailer for Barbie dropped, anticipation for Greta Gerwig’s new movie starring Margot Robbie as the infamous Barbie has continued to grow. This is in part thanks to the creative and marketing team behind Barbie, as the Barbiecore aesthetic seems to be taking over the world and there’s pink everywhere. But in addition to all the pink and glamor of Barbie, another highly anticipated movie is coming to theaters the same weekend. Christopher Nolan’s latest movie, Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer is ready to make an impact.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has promoted Michael Kustermann from president to CEO. The board of directors, including former CEO Shelli Taylor and executive chairman Tim League, named Kustermann as CEO following Taylor’s decision to retire. Under Kustermann’s leadership, the company will continue its path for growth and investment in its theatres, unparalleled moviegoing experience, and building out the best team in the exhibition industry. Taylor will remain on the Alamo Drafthouse board of directors.
Christie Digital Systems has signed a multi-year agreement to supply its RGB pure laser projectors to Cineplex Germany. Work is underway to install RGB pure laser projectors as part of the agreement, which will operate until 2026.
