Latin-American alternative content distributor Contenido Alternativo has announced the first ever satellite delivery of a feature film for commercial release in the region. Universal's Intruders was the first title releasing on April 20 in Mexico. After this official launch the company will continue its rollout of the first stage of 400 cinemas across Mexico Central and South America by July expanding its coverage to provide delivery services to digital cinema theatres of key exhibitors in the region including Cinepolis and Cinemex. This new service will enable us to strengthen our leadership as digital content distributors in Mexico and Central America and also allow our migration from 35mm print logistics service providers to a fully integrated digital cinema service company for Latin America says Juan Manuel Borbolla CEO of Contenido Alternativo. Contenido Alternativo has been providing alternative content programming including live 2D and 3D sporting events and concerts since 2009 and now has become the first company to provide a multicast satellite delivery of DCI compliant movies into cinemas for commercial release in the region. Past Contenido Alternativo releases included the ground breaking worldwide LIVE 3D broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Championship The Champion's League the WWE Series and NBA Series among many others.
