Rough Riders Studios’s feature documentary South Bureau Homicide will be making its world premiere at the 2015 Saint Louis International Film Festival November 14 at the Hi-Pointe Backlot Theatre. Special screenings for the community are being set up in St. Louis and in the neighboring community of Ferguson.
If you grew up in the ‘80s it’s likely that at one time or another you found yourself inside a video arcade playing video games for hours on end at just 25 cents a pop. It was during this time period that a farm boy named Tim McVey from Ottumwa, Iowa—the Dodge City of video games— became the champion of Nibbler, the first arcade game with a scoring threshold of one billion points. It took McVey more than forty hours—and only cost him one quarter—to hit this milestone.
When Ken Burns’s 11-hour documentary The Civil War first aired on PBS in 1990, it set new standards for television documentaries through its astonishingly detailed, sweeping and often heart-wrenching recount of the epic conflict between the North and South. Working under the direction of Burns and restoration producer Daniel J. White, Technicolor PostWorks New York participated in a meticulous 4K restoration that brings the classic documentary vividly back to life. The project was done in preparation for the 25th anniversary rebroadcast of The Civil War on PBS and its Blu-ray release this month, and also coincides with the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s assassination and the end of the war.
Sanjeev Chatterjee, professor at the University of Miami School of Communication in Coral Gables, Florida, is shooting a documentary about different approaches to healthy eating. He began gathering interview footage in Europe this summer, and anticipates the multi-year project will grow in scope and take him to locations around the world.

Organizers of the nonprofit Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles have announced its 7th annual feature film line-up. The five-day event, July 22-26, will be held in venues throughout downtown L.A.’s historic core with The Regent Theater serving as the festival’s primary venue.
The AFI Docs five-day festival wrapped up this week in the Washington, DC area. This year's Audience Award for Best Feature went to What Happened, Miss Simone? directed by Liz Garbus. This year's Audience Award for Best Short went to A Conversation with My Black Son directed by Blair Foster and Geeta Gandbhir. With 81 films from 25 countries, the festival brought together artists, national policy and opinion leaders along with global representatives.
