New York Women in Film & Television will provide film production grants to El Pueblo vs. Austeridad / The People vs. Austerity and Coquito. The projects come from two of the 12 media making teams selected for Good Pitch Local Puerto Rico, where they pitched live from Puerto Rico via webcast to a group of advisors, with connections to non-governmental organizations, distributors, and foundations.
Rebekah Hernandez is a Post New York Association board member and a post-production supervisor whose recent credits include the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning film The Forty-Year-Old Version and Showtime’s hit series Billions. A native New Yorker, Hernandez has come a long way since she landed her first job as a production assistant in 2013, but it hasn’t been easy. It took time to find someone willing to give her a shot and she experienced a few false starts, but her hard work and persistence eventually paid off, and now the sky’s the limit.

The Motion Picture Association’s film and television content security program, the Trusted Partner Network, has appointed Crystal Pham to the role of vice president, operations, and product management. Pham will report to TPN president Terri Davies.
SMPTE, the home of media professionals, technologists, and engineers, today announced that David Grindle will serve as the society's next executive director. He will formally join SMPTE in July after concluding a 12-year tenure as executive director of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, an association dedicated to performing arts and entertainment professionals.
The call for entries is now open for the Hollywood Professional Association’s Engineering Excellence Award. The award recognizes the companies and individuals who have created breakthrough technologies in media, content production, finishing, distribution, and archiving.
Following a hugely successful debut in 2021, preparations are already underway for the FilmLight Color Awards 2022. This year’s awards, which will again be presented at EnergaCamerImage in November, include a new category celebrating the work of colorists on lower budget, independent and international features. Colorists, production companies and facilities are invited to put forward their nominations when entries open on May 1, with a final deadline for submissions on July 31.
The Global Connections for Women Foundation honored New York Women in Film & Television executive director Cynthia López last weekend as one of its Top 100 Women in the World. In doing so, the foundation continued its tradition to recognize women’s accomplishments in exclusive settings that allow them to celebrate equity, diversity, and inclusion. This year’s theme was “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.”
