Odeon Multicines Installing Six Cinity Cinema Systems

Odeon Multicines has reached an agreement to install Cinity Cinema Systems, with components that include Christie Real|Laser illumination technology, in six premium large format theatres across Spain. The Cinity format for PLF auditoriums enhances the overall cinematic experience with 4K, 3D, high brightness, high frame rate, high dynamic range, and wide color gamut display capabilities, paired with immersive sound. Christie partner Ingevideo, in collaboration with Equipo de Cine, will supply, install, and service this integrated system.

Vue International’s Space Cinemas Installing Cinionic Laser Projection

The Space Cinemas, a division of Vue International, announce plans to bring Laser Projection by Cinionic to 114 screens across Italy. The move to laser is part of a larger initiative by The Space to reduce the overall energy consumption of theatres in line with Italy’s recovery plan. Laser projection is the green choice for cinema presentation technology today through lower electricity use, elimination of waste from consumables, and a smaller carbon footprint.

German Exhibitor Kinowelt Deploying GDC Technology

German independent cinema chain Kinowelt will deploy GDC Technology’s Cinema Automation CA 2.0 automation to fully automate its cinema operations while significantly reducing the cost associated with booth operations. Kinowelt will also be utilizing GDC’s Central Management Enterprise Software CMS-3000, a comprehensive web-based solution to manage screenings across an entire cinema circuit from its headquarters.

UNIC Publishes 2023 Annual Report

The International Union of Cinemas, the trade association representing cinema operators and their national associations across 39 European territories, has published its annual report on key cinema trends in the region in 2022/23. After two disrupted years, 2022 marked a step-change in the recovery of the European cinema industry, sending a clear signal of the desire of audiences to return to the big screen when presented with a strong and diverse film offer and allowing cinemas to re-affirm their cultural and social significance within local communities.

Ster-Kinekor Upgrades with GDC Technology

South Africa’s Ster-Kinekor has selected GDC Technology’s SR-1000 Standalone Integrated Media Block with built-in cinema audio processor to upgrade its projection and sound systems to the latest digital cinema media server and audio technology. In addition, Ster-Kinekor will complete the upgrade with the Espedeo Audio Interface Box AIB-2000/AIB-2800, which is a digital-analog converter for cinemas to interface with cinema power amplifiers and SR-1000 IMB with built-in cinema audio processor.

Last week at CineEurope, Cinionic celebrated its fifth anniversary and milestone in its ongoing mission to advance the theatrical experience worldwide. The footprint for Laser Projection by Cinionic has accelerated in recent years with major theaters circuits including AMC, National Amusements, Cinepolis, Cineplex, Cinemark, and B&B Theatres, among many others, announcing plans for large-scale upgrades to laser.
