Fandango Acquires MovieTickets

Fandango announced today it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire MovieTickets.com, the online movie ticket service for moviegoers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Latin America. MovieTickets.com will join brands Fandango, Flixster, Ingresso and Fandango Latin America to create a suite of movie ticketing properties, serving hundreds of millions of moviegoers worldwide. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter this year.

Beauty Sets Fandango Record

Prior to its opening this Friday, Disney’s live-action movie Beauty and the Beast has already set a new record as Fandango’s number one family pre-seller of all time, with Beauty pre-sales (through Monday night) already eclipsing total pre-sales for any other family film in Fandango’s 17-year history.

Fandango today announced a new relationship with HBO Home Entertainment to make HBO’s award winning content available for purchase via digital download on FandangoNow. Individual episodes and seasons of HBO content will join FandangoNow’s robust collection of 40,000 new release and catalog movies and TV shows.

Fandango Acquires Flixster, Rotten Tomatoes

Fandango has acquired Flixster and Rotten Tomatoes, including the professional movie critic rating tool, the Tomatometer, from Warner Bros. Entertainment. The addition of Flixster and Rotten Tomatoes, along with Fandango’s recent acquisition of on-demand video service, M-Go, will expand the company’s theatrical ticketing business and create the industry’s premier digital network for all things movies.

Fandango, NCM Form Strategic Partnership

Fandango and National CineMedia announced today a new strategic relationship that will bring Fandango’s original video content to the big screen nationwide as part of NCM’s FirstLook, cinema advertising pre-show. The deal will also exclusively provide NCM with a select aggregated set of Fandango’s moviegoer demographic data, which NCM will combine into its broader data management platform, enabling more effective in-theater advertising and content targeting for NCM’s marketing partners.
