Screenvision, ESPAT TV Announce Deal

Screenvision Media has announced a partnership with eSports and gaming production company ESPAT TV. Under the terms of the deal, details of which were not disclosed, ESPAT will produce and distribute gaming-related content across Screenvision’s in-cinema and SV Sports networks. ESPAT TV will create original content including trailers for AAA game titles that will be shown in theatres during the biggest theatrical releases for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022.

Göteborg Film Festival Returning with Live Screening

The Nordic region's largest film festival is happy to return to the cinemas in Göteborg next year. Due to the pandemic, the 2021 edition of Göteborg Film Festival became a digital event. The digital edition turned out to be a great audience success with visitors from all over the country. Therefore, Göteborg Film Festival 2022 will show films both in cinemas and online from January 28 through February 6, 2022.

EGA Finds Localization Issues Hampering Creative Community

The Entertainment Globalization Association has released a report on consumer viewing habits of localized content versions. The EGA, working in part with Whip Media, surveyed more than 15,000 consumers from France, Italy, Germany, and Spain (FIGS) regarding their viewing habits on streaming platforms. The overall findings indicate that 61 percent of respondents encountered poor localization quality on a monthly basis, and perhaps more concerning, that nearly 65 percent have stopped watching a movie or TV show in the last year as a result.

SMPTE, the home of media professionals, technologists, and engineers, has announced the program for its annual technical conference, SMPTE 2021 ATC, a virtual event with half-day sessions running over six days from November 9-11 and November 16-18. Through technical sessions, networking and social events, interactive discussions, and keynote presentations, SMPTE 2021 ATC participants will gain access to the people, knowledge, and perspectives driving the ongoing evolution of media and entertainment.
