11 Dollar Bill has hired ad industry veteran Jamie Slade as executive producer at its Boulder studio. Slade, whose background includes serving as senior producer with Crispin Porter + Bogusky, will oversee production and head sales for the post-production studio, which specializes in creative design, editing and finishing for advertising, branded content, and other media.
This March and April, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s Time Capsules retrospective journeys back to the Gen X-iverse of 1994 with more than thirty films returning to the big screen, including culturally redefining features like Pulp Fiction, Chungking Express, and Clerks as well as landmarks like The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump and Interview with the Vampire. Beginning with the 1994 series, Alamo Drafthouse is also introducing a new collection of collectible pint glasses, as well as a special menu with items inspired by the films of 1994.

Ten years after the initial rollout of laser cinema projectors, the technology and the people who developed it are being honored with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Scientific and Technical Awards. Sixteen people from seven companies will be recognized on February 23. I am humbled to be recognized for my pioneering utilization of semiconductor lasers for theatrical laser projection systems. The National President of the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, Opeyemi Ajayi, said that last month Nigerian cinemas generated N1.2 billion at the box office across the country. On a year-on-year basis this is a 46.5 percent increase when compared to N819 million recorded last January. He added that 322,833 tickets were sold in the same period.
MetaMedia, the cloud-based platform for delivering movies, live events, targeted advertising, and other premium content to cinemas, today announced that its network now includes 500 cinemas and 5,000 screens across major cities in the U.S. and Canada. MetaMedia’s cinema customers also represent four out of the top five largest North American cinema chains.

The Chinese movie market this year shattered multiple previous records to become the highest-grossing Chinese New Year holiday in the history of domestic cinema. Statistics from the China Film Administration, the nation's top industry regulator, showed that during the holiday period from February 10-17, the country grossed 8.02 billion yuan ($1.12 billion) from 163 million tickets, representing an increase of 18.47 percent and 26.36 percent, respectively, compared with the same period last year.

Miller Megaplex Entertainment at Desert Color is being developed in partnership with Woodbury Corporation as part of the master-planned community and regional shopping center.
