The Hollywood Professional Association and the HPA Awards Committee have announced that respected journalist Peter Caranicas will be honored with the HPA Legacy Award. Caranicas is the first recipient of the honor. Given only at the discretion of the HPA Awards Committee and HPA Board of Directors, the HPA Legacy Award honors inspiring leaders, mentors, influencers, and those who have made consistent and valuable contributions to the industry. The award will be bestowed on November 21 at the 14th annual HPA Awards gala at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

The Middle East and North Africa Cinema Forum, the region’s only cinema convention, held last week in Dubai, concluded with an awards ceremony, recognizing industry leaders in the MENA region. Executives from cinema chains, major studios, film distributors and their global partners attended the red-carpet affair.
