For the eighteenth year, HollyShorts is presenting its Academy qualifying short film festival in person at TCL Chinese Theaters, Japan House Hollywood, and streaming on Bitpix TV. The festival is underway and runs through August 20. For the first time, Zeiss cinematography is pleased to sponsor the new HollyShorts Zeiss Achievement in Cinematography Award and participate in other festival events.

The twelfth annual Lower East Side Film Festival concluded at Manhattan’s Village East Cinema last week. This year’s winners, which were named today, include Bacon N’ Laces from director Stephen Michael Simon which took the top prize for Best of Fest - Prix D’or and I am Gen Z from director Liz Smith, which was named Best Feature Film.
The Göteborg Film Festival has appointed Josef Kullengård head of industry. Kullengård has a broad background in film festivals and industry forums. He joined Göteborg Film Festival in 2017 as the industry producer for the Nordic Film Market and worked with the development of the industry program up until 2021.
Christie Digital Cinema is providing projection technology for the Lavazza IncluCity Festival, organized by the ICFF. This year’s festivities will transform the iconic cobblestone streets of Toronto’s Distillery Historic District into an outdoor cinema village, celebrating multiculturalism and the best of international cinema from June 27 to July 15. After two successful years as the Lavazza Drive-In Film Festival, the festival welcomes moviegoers to the new cinema village.
Four Ukrainian directors and screenwriters have now been selected to the Göteborg residencies that were announced in May. Göteborg Film Fund: Ukraine is also now working on ways to offer additional support for dissemination of Ukrainian films, and for filmmakers working in Ukraine. More than 35 applications were submitted for the residency program, which is a cooperation with HDK-Valand, at the University of Gotenburg, and financed by Region Västra Götaland. Three of the participants will arrive during the end of June/beginning of July, and the fourth in August.
New York Women in Film & Television will officially co-host 14 films by women and Black, indigenous and people of color creators at the 2022 Tribeca Festival. The festival runs through June 19, both virtually and in-person in New York City.

The Big Sky Film Institute has been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the 2023 DocShop filmmakers forum and industry conference. Announced by the NEA in May, three funding categories supported more than $91 million in recommended grants to organizations in all 50 states.
