SDVI Program Would Create Carbon Neutral Media Supply Platform

The cloud-native media supply chains platform SDVI has announced an ambitious new sustainability program that the company says makes all usage of the Rally media supply chain optimization platform, going back to the beginning of 2021, completely carbon neutral. The program will also ensure that all SDVI customers benefit from permanent, ongoing carbon offsets for all Rally platform usage, including all third-party media applications used as part of a Rally-managed supply chain. Current SDVI customers include Sony Pictures, Funimation, and HBO Studios.

Qube Cinema Introduces WireTAP Air for Content Delivery

Qube Cinema has introduced the WireTAP Air theatre appliance, a small-form factor device that connects theatres to Qube Wire’s global cloud delivery platform via 5G or 4G mobile networks and allows for the seamless delivery of trailers and advertising DCPs. The company says these options provide an ideal way to connect exhibitors at a significantly lower cost than was previously possible.

The Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition, the world’s largest cinema satellite delivery network announced today that it will be reducing prices and lowering minimum commitments on many of its services effective January 1. The company said the sweeping pricing reductions will affect feature film, live, and event delivery for both the exhibitor and content provider communities.

MetaMedia Expands Thanks to HCL Technologies Partnership

Piracy Has No Boundaries

A new report from content protection specialist Nagra, entitled Piracy Has No Boundaries, claims that thieves steal tens of billions of dollars of content value annually and that more than 80 percent of content theft is attributable to streaming. In addition, the report says, eight percent of U.S. households subscribe to illicit internet protocol services for an estimated $1 billion in illegal subscription revenue every year. The report uses Disney and Marvel Studio’s Black Widow as an example of how things can go wrong when feature films are streamed and estimates that the film lost between $50-$70 million because the movie lacked an exclusive theatrical window over its first ten days of release.
