IBC’s Big Screen to Explore the Art, Science and Business of Cinema

This year’s IBC Big Screen program will take place in a specially built auditorium designed to IBC’s specifications and featuring the very latest in cinema technology, including Dolby Vision imaging and Dolby Atmos immersive sound. The four-day program will examine the latest topics, themes, and insights surrounding the art, science, and business of cinema, from capture through to exhibition. As well as being the home of the Big Screen program, the auditorium will screen in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, Baby Driver, the acclaimed Edgar Wright feature from 2017.

Harklets Return to CineEurope 2017

Pushing the Boundaries

Event cinema has come a long way since its earliest days more than a decade ago. The challenge now is to push the boundaries of event cinema to find new content, new concepts that can attract and sustain even larger audiences. To that end, the Event Cinema Association’s annual day-long ECA Conference & Awards session will be held in London this Friday February 3 at the QE11 Centre in central London, near Parliament Square in Westminster. The conference, now in its fourth year is the only event of its kind in the world. To learn more about the association, the conference and the event cinema business in general I spoke with Melissa Cogavin, the ECA’s managing director.

Panavision to Showcase Millennium DXL Camera, T Series Lenses at Camerimage

Panavision will showcase many of its newest offerings, including the Millennium DXL 8K Camera and T Series anamorphic lenses at the 2016 edition of the Camerimage International Film Festival, which runs November 12-19 in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers has announced conference program details for the SMPTE 2016 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition, being held October 25-27 in Hollywood, California. During SMPTE 2016, conference sessions will feature industry experts from around the world, who will present 73 papers exploring timely, compelling topics that are shaping the field of motion imaging.
