Film and television visual effects company VFX Legion delivered all of the effects for Nocturne, director Ze Quirke’s feature film debut, for Welcome to Blumhouse. Amazon Studios joined forces with Blumhouse Television to create the theme-related series showcasing emerging filmmakers who bring a fresh perspective to the horror genre. Legion’s team produced a mix of complex computer-generated effects that helped elevate the visceral fear and foreboding evoked by the thriller’s untraditional occult theme.

HPA Announces Details for 2021 Tech Retreat Supersession

Report Details Budget Figures, Financing for European Films Released in 2018

A new report details the median budget of a European theatrical fiction film released in 2018 and those films most important financing sources. The report is based on the actual budget analysis of 568 European live-action fiction films released in 2018. Researchers say this is probably the largest ongoing pan-European data sample available to date on the financing of European fiction films.

Sofia Coppola to Receive ASC Board of Governors Award

The American Society of Cinematographers will present writer-producer-director Sofia Coppola with the organization’s Board of Governors Award during the 35th Annual ASC Awards on April 18, which will be live streamed from the ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood. Nugen Releases Version 1.1 of 3D-Compatible Paragon

Nugen Audio has released Version 1.1 of its 3D-compatible convolution reverb plug-in, Paragon. Included among the updates is the addition of outdoor impulse responses and improved balancing of early reflections. Eclair Versioning & Accessibility, which has been operating as a stand-alone company under the leadership of Angel Martin since the Eclair Group’s reorganization last year is rebranding itself as EVA. Martin remains as managing director. SMPTE Hollywood to Host Panel Discussion about New ATSC Standard
