[Editor’s Note: Jeroen Hendriks served as digital imaging technician on the feature film Where the Crawdads Sing, which opened in theatres this past weekend. Neon has wrapped production on Tilman Singer’s Cuckoo, the feature film debut of Hunter Schafer (Euphoria). The horror film, written and directed by Singer, was shot in Germany. With plot details being kept under wraps, post-production is currently underway for the film’s 2023 release
Re-recording mixer James Wichall fell into the audio business almost by chance while he was working in the legal department at UK-based Ragdoll production company, the team behind the popular Teletubbies children’s television program. It was there that he was first introduced to the possibilities of sound design.
The Göteborg Film Festival has appointed Josef Kullengård head of industry. Kullengård has a broad background in film festivals and industry forums. He joined Göteborg Film Festival in 2017 as the industry producer for the Nordic Film Market and worked with the development of the industry program up until 2021.
Nice Shoes has hired post-production veteran Phil Harrelson as managing director/DI and dailies. Harrelson will head the facility’s digital intermediate services, which provides color grading, editorial finishing and delivery services for film and television. He will also oversee the launch of a new dailies service for film and television productions.
Earlier this month Zeiss hosted the Women in Media WIM + ZEISS Altitude Awards Ceremony to celebrate the recipients of the prestigious annual honors, which are dedicated to promoting gender balance in the film and entertainment industries. Cinematographer Eszter Csepeli was the top winner.
As part of a broader move to a leaner and more participatory operating model, the Event Cinema Organization today announced that managing director, Grainne Clarke, will be stepping down from her current role and has been appointed as non-executive Director of the association going forward. The announcement was made by the ECA’s board of directors. Clarke has been managing director since 2018.
Deluxe has appointed Samantha Kim managing director, business development, APAC. Kim, who will be based in Seoul, will report to Chris Reynolds, executive vice president and general manager of worldwide localization and fulfillment.
Vista Group International has announced the appointment of two senior executives into new roles, effective July 1. Sarah Lewthwaite has been promoted to chief executive of Movio, the group’s data driven movie marketing company. At the same time, Movio chief operating officer, Matthew Liebmann, will move into the newly created role of chief innovation and data officer for Vista Group, based in Auckland.
