Deluxe Entertainment Services today announced a new slate of technology and services to develop content for immersive entertainment and virtual reality experiences. Coinciding with this announcement, Deluxe has recently completed work on Neuro, developed with creative VR studio Kite & Lightning for GE, debuting today at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles, California.

Re-Recording Mixers Pederson, Leahy Join Sony Pictures

Continuing to grow its sound department, Sony Pictures Post Production Services has added award-winning re-recording mixers Steve Pederson and Daniel J. Leahy to its creative staff. Pederson and Leahy have worked as a team on a number of motion picture projects, including the Antoine Fuqua film The Equalizer, which, as independents, they mixed on Sony Pictures’ Cary Grant Stage last year. They are currently mixing Fuqua’s latest film, Southpaw on the Sony lot. Upcoming projects include HBO’s True Detective and Fuqua’s remake of The Magnificent Seven.

Christie Supports Shanghai International Film Festival for Seventh Year

Christie is serving as the exclusive digital projection partner for the Shanghai International Film Festival for the seventh consecutive year. The 18th annual Shanghai International Film Festival will take place from June 13-21. Known as China’s only non-specialized competitive international film festival accredited by the Paris-based Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films, the festival kicked off in style with the screening of veteran Hong Kong director Derek Yee’s new film, I Am Somebody, while China-Russian co-production Ballet in the Flames of War will close the event.

Method Demolishes Downtown LA in San Andreas

The action thriller San Andreas, now in theaters, is packed with catastrophic destruction, achieved in part through 247 complex visual effects shots executed by Method Studios facilities. As one of the main visual effects vendors on the film, Method was responsible for the entire downtown Los Angeles sequence, in which an earthquake decimates the city, and also contributed to the San Francisco sequence.

Filmworkers, Churchill Studios Stage Shark Attack for La Quinta

Man-eating sharks turn cuddly in a new campaign for La Quinta. Filmworkers and Churchill Studio provided the inspired computer generated magic for Swim in which a businessman is dropped into a dive tank filled with blood thirsty sea creatures. The campaign was conceived by DDB Chicago, and directed by David McNally of Company Films.
