Walt Disney's The Lion King leads Fandango’s weekend ticket sales with a chart-topping 99 out of 100 on the Fanticipation movie buzz index score. The Lion King adaptation now ranks as Fandango’s second best pre-seller of the year to date, surpassing Captain Marvel and following Avengers: Endgame in 2019’s advance tickets at the same point in the sales cycle, according to Fandango.
French multiplex company CGR Cinemas has announced that the first ICE Theatre in the United States will be debuting this fall at Regal L.A. Live: A Barco Innovation Center in downtown Los Angeles. The ICE (Immersive Cinema Experience) Theatre concept launched two-and-a-half years ago, combining state-of-the-art design and excellence in sound and image technologies with the revolutionary ICE sensorial experience.

CineLife Entertainment, the event cinema division of Spotlight Cinema Networks, has partnered with CBS Home Entertainment as the exclusive theatrical distributor throughout North America for two Peanuts features: A Boy Named Charlie Brown (1969) and Snoopy, Come Home (1972). Genesis Cinemas in Nigeria has announced plans to equip six of its auditoriums with the ScreenX multi-screen format from CJ 4DPlex. Genesis Cinemas is the leading cinema chain of West Africa with nine locations, 35 screens and over 3,400 seats in operation across Nigeria.

Screenvision Media’s pre show runs on a cinema network that now includes more than 15,000 screens, in more than 2,400 locations across all 50 States. The network encompasses more than 90 percent of the top markets in the country and claims more than 500 million consumer admissions annually. I spoke recently with Screenvision’s chief revenue officer Katy Loria regarding how pre-shows have evolved over the past decade and what the future holds.
CinemaNext UK and Omniplex Cinema Group, Ireland’s largest cinema circuit, today announced the signing of an agreement for the sale and roll out of RGB+ Laser-light source upgrades and light engine clean for Barco projectors in 29 Omniplex auditoriums. The roll out across 24 Omniplex cinemas in Ireland and Northern Ireland will take place through the second half of 2019 and adds to the 2018 upgrade to laser of 15 of Omniplex’s largest screens.
