New York CineFest will welcome dozens of independent films, short and feature length, to the inaugural year of the international film festival May 13-15 at the Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas in Chelsea. Films of all genres will be presented, including documentaries.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has named Heather Morgan to the newly created post of chief of staff and strategy. She will report to CEO Shelli Taylor and is charged with “designing and executing key strategic programs to drive the organization forward.”
The City of Milwaukee wants someone to restore the historic Villa/Ritz Theatre and re-open the now vacant building as an entertainment venue. “It is our hope that the movie theatre will be a catalytic development,” said Angelique Sharpe, of Havenwoods Neighborhood Partnership, which manages the Villard Avenue Business Improvement District. “We would like to see it continue on with its long tradition of being able to house all kinds of entertainment such as cinema and film, performance, comedy, music, and dance.”

The announcement was made today by Scott Felenstein, NCM’s president, sales, marketing and partnerships, during the company’s upfront presentation for advertisers at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater in New York City.

The WWE and Fathom Events have announced a new agreement that brings WrestleMania, WWE’s biggest event of the year, to movie theatres nationwide. The two-night event will air live on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET from AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
Lotus Cinemas, an international and independent film theatre, is set to open on March 25 at Parkside Town Commons in Cary, about 18 miles from Durham, North Carolina. The theatre is a new concept and is the brainchild of Paragon Theatres’ co-CEOs Michael Whalen and Michael Wilson.
