Creators, artists, musicians and filmmakers, on the one hand, defend their legitimate right to reap the benefits of their work. Internet users and public at large, on their part, claim a fundamental right to access information and culture online on fair terms and by means of more attractive business models. How can the current copyright laws respond to all these challenges? What should be the role of internet intermediaries in the enforcement of copyright online? And more generally in this context, how to combine effective protection with the principle of net neutrality?

Backstage Relies on Facilis TerraBlock

The post-production team for the Canadian family drama series Backstage is again relying Facilis TerraBlock for their collaborative editorial workflow for its second season. Ellen Fine, CCE (Canada Cinema Editor) is the supervising editor and consulting producer on Backstage. The series is produced by Fresh TV and distributed by DHX. It currently airs on the Family Channel in Canada and on the Disney Channel in the US and worldwide.

MTI Film recently completed an all-new 4K restoration of director Lewis Milestone’s 1931 film The Front Page. The months-long project was conducted for The Academy Film Archive and The Film Foundation, with MTI Film’s restoration team working under the direction of AFA director Michael Pogorzelski and film preservationist Heather Linville.

Roundabout Restores Zeffirelli’s Romeo & Juliet

Roundabout Entertainment recently collaborated with Paramount Pictures and Park Circus on a luminous, 4K-restoration of Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 classic Romeo and Juliet. The restored film is currently enjoying a new theatrical run as part of Shakespeare Lives, a worldwide program of special events commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death. The project was made possible through funding from the British Council and the British Film Institute.
