Sonic Handling Conversion of Marshfield Cinema 8 in Wisconsin

Rogers Cinema has chosen Sonic Equipment Company for the conversion of its Marshfield Cinema 8 in Marshfield Wisconsin. Under the agreement GDC Technology will supply the digital cinema servers to be deployed in the conversion program. As part of Sonic’s aggressive installation agenda Rogers Cinema anticipates the entire chain to be fully converted by the end of 2012.   Scott Koran CEO at Rogers Cinema has been working closely with Sonic during the conversion process.

Spy Comes to the Rescue for Priest

In the post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller Priest from Screen Gems a warrior man of the cloth ventures out from hiding when his niece is kidnapped by a pack of murderous vampires. Directed by Scott Charles Stewart from the graphic novel of the same name Priest was released in 2D and stereoscopic 3D and premiered last month.

Calling itself the first Hollywood transmedia production company United Motion Entertainment has announced the launch of its business. The company includes branded entertainment veteran Dominik Rausch as CEO and producer-actor-musician Kelly Blatz as vice president of strategic partnerships. They describe UME as a hybrid production company/marketing firm that they say is set to revolutionize the way that entertainment is produced distributed and promoted.

Revenge of the Car to have Hybrid Release

Stefano Durdic executive producer of WestMidWest Productions and Kirt Eftekhar co-founder with Richard Abramowitz of Area23a have announced a partnership for a hybrid theatrical release of the documentary film Revenge of the Electric Car.  Through a combination of major metropolitan area theatrical runs and special event screenings the film will open across the country in the fall of 2011.

Patrons have also witnessed dramatic changes in the form of expansion of theatres chains creation of multiplexes and megaplexes that accommodate more screens. The box office growth has been mainly fuelled by the rollout of 3D screens as theatre owners charge more for a 3D film thereby increasing overall box office revenues.

Panasonic Introduces AG-AC7PJ Camcorder

Panasonic has introduced the AG-AC7PJ shoulder-mount camcorder. The camera has full 1920x1080 recording to an SD Memory Card at 480i. The camera weights less than four pounds offers stable shoulder-mount shooting and comes complete with a large grip and zoom lever as well as a wide-diameter manual focus ring for smooth precise operation. 
  
 The camcorder’s wide-angle 38.5.8mm lens (35mm equivalent) facilitates panoramic capture and shooting in confined spaces.

The Monk Installs Sonnet Storage System

The Monk an independent video post-production company based in Cape Town South Africa has installed a Sonnet Fusion DX800RAID eight-drive RAID SATA storage system to support on-location editing and provide storage for production of high-end retail commercials and other television productions. The Monk owner video producer/online artist Grant Aerts performs post-production finishing work for a wide range of commercials long-form TV programs and local features using Autodesk Smoke for Mac running on a dual (2 x 2.26 GHz) quad-core Intel Xeon Mac Pro.
