When Kyle Camarillo was selected for the ReDirect skateboard filmmaking competition sponsored by Red Digital Cinema and famed skate park, The Berrics, he chose to film his entry with Freefly Systems’ MōVI M10 camera stabilizer. “We’ve always skated alongside the skateboarder to capture footage, so keeping the camera steady is what we always strive for,” Camarillo says. “Using the MōVI perfected that as well as opened up new doors.”
Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated production designer Jim Bissell will receive the Art Directors Guild's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 19th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards on January 31 at a black-tie ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The announcement was made today by John Shaffner, ADG council chairman, and ADG award producers Dave Blass and James Pearse Connelly.
SET, the Brazilian Society of Television Engineering has announced the call for entries for SET Award 2014 will be accepted between now and July 22. This is the fifth year for the award, which is dedicated to companies and professionals that contribute with innovation and relevance for technology development of the Brazilian Television. The companies that would like to enroll must be established in Brazil or have an official representation or distributor. The professionals must be exercising their activities in Brazil.
The Hollywood Post Alliance has announced the 2014 Call for Entries for its Engineering Excellence Award. The Engineering honor showcases inventors, manufacturers, vendors and/or peer post-production companies for outstanding product or technology application offerings. Valid offerings may include products or processes, and must represent a step forward for its industry beneficiaries. The HPA Engineering Excellence Award is recognized as one of the most important technology honors in the post-production industry.
The Hollywood Post Alliance has opened its call for entries for the HPA Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation in Post-Production. This award was conceived to recognize companies and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in post-production, whether in creative storytelling and/or technical innovation, and is judged by a jury of peers and industry experts. The Creativity and Innovation honors have consistently attracted the most thoughtful and forward thinking companies and individuals in the industry.
Axeda Corporation has awarded Barco with a Product Innovation award for CineCare Web. Axeda presented the award at its annual Connexion Conference in Boston, Massachusetts last month. Winners were selected based on their ability to showcase the Axeda Machine Cloud, as well as skills and expertise in developing innovative solutions across the Internet of Things technology platform.
The Hollywood Post Alliance has issues the call for entries for the 2014 HPA Awards. The event will take place November 6 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California.
LipSync Post has won a BAFTA Craft award for Sound-Fiction. The audio team won the award for its work on Steven Poliakoff’s BBC drama Dancing on the Edge. The ceremony took place at The Brewery, East London on April 27.
Ivan Reitman will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s CinemaCon, it was announced by managing director Mitch Neuhauser. CinemaCon, the official convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners will be held March 24-27 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
