Jean-Pierre Decrette, until recently director of development at Cinémas Gaumont Pathé, has been named as the 2018 recipient of the UNIC Achievement Award, given each year in recognition of outstanding dedication and service to European cinema exhibition. The award will be presented as part of the CineEurope Awards Ceremony June 14 at the Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain.
CJ4DPlex’s immersive cinema technology 4DX with ScreenX is among the contenders for the top prize in the Media and Visual Communication – Entertainment category at this year’s Edison Awards. The annual awards, which recognize the most innovative new products in the world, will be held on April 11th in New York City.
The ECA’s fifth annual conference took place in London Wednesday at the Vue West End in Leicester Square. As part of a busy day’s presentations, discussion and networking the ECA Box Office Awards were the highlight of the day.

Screenvision Media today announced the seven jurors for the highly anticipated Hegarty ACE (advertising in cinema excellence) Awards. The awards celebrate the most creative campaigns running in cinema, and will consider advertisements or content that launched through Screenvision Media’s Front + Center cinema program. The panel will officially be introduced during the Adweek Brand Storytelling event, taking place this week at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
The Society of Camera Operators has announced the honorees of the Lifetime Achievement Awards, Camera Operator of the Year for both the film and television categories. The recipients will be announced at the February 3 Awards hosted at the Loews Hollywood Hotel.
The American Society of Cinematographers has announced the nominees in all categories of the 32nd Annual ASC Awards for Outstanding Achievement. Winners will be revealed at the organization’s February 17 ceremony at the Ray Dolby Ballroom. This year’s emcee is Ben Mankiewicz, a longtime host on Turner Classic Movies.
Barco was named CineAsia 2017 Technology Innovator of the Year earlier this week in Hong Kong. In accepting the award, senior vice president entertainment Wim Buyens said, “Given that this is exactly what we try to achieve, we are particularly proud to be recognized as Technology Innovator of the Year.
Barbara Lange, executive director of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, was honored last month by her alma mater, Washington & Jefferson College, with its 2017 Alumni Award for Achievement during its annual President's Homecoming Dinner.
