Christie Wins ICTA’s Teddy Award for Manufacturer of the Year

The International Cinema Technology Association has presented Christie Digital Systems with its Teddy Award as Manufacturer of the Year. The award is voted on by active members of the ICTA and presented annually to the ICTA manufacturer which “most closely exemplifies the progressive principals of product development and provides the dealers with service and up-to-date technical and sales information, while supporting the status of its product without qualification.”

HPA Accepting Entries for Creativity Awards in Editing, Color Grading, Sound and Visual Effects

The Hollywood Professional Association has opened its call for entries in creative categories for the HPA Awards. The Awards, now in their 14th year, are considered important recognition for groundbreaking work and artistic excellence, acknowledging creative artistry in color grading, editing, sound, and visual effects in feature film, episodic, and commercials. The 14th HPA Awards gala will be returning to the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California on the evening of Thursday, November 21, 2019.

Thirteen Selected for Film Independent’s 2019 Documentary Lab

Film Independent, the nonprofit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards, announced the 13 filmmakers and eight projects selected for its 2019 Documentary Lab. The Lab is an intensive two-week program designed to help filmmakers who are currently in post-production on their feature-length documentary films.

CinemaCon 2019: The Catalyst Awards

Each year, Digital Cinema Report presents a Catalyst Award to the best new technology introduced at CinemaCon, the annual convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners. At this year’s show, held April 1-4 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, motion picture professionals from around the world gathered to discuss the latest issues, trends and technologies in motion picture production, distribution and exhibition. But this CinemaCon was noteworthy as much for the technology that was not on display there as for what was.
