Starlight Cinemas in Southern California has installed Barco laser projection at its Dos Lagos 15 theatre. Cinema integration partner Moving Image Technologies secured and installed the project, which is targeted to go live later this month.

Cinema 21 Group, a long-term partner of Barco in Indonesia, has equipped its auditorium with a Barco’s DP4K-60L 6P laser cinema projector. The companies say it is the first laser projector installed in the Asia-Pacific region. The goal is to get a proper understanding of the projector’s operation in preparation of a more extensive rollout across the group’s halls and theaters.
Smitty’s Cinemas was the brainchild of four brothers from Merrimac, Massachusetts who opened a single-screen cinema pub in early 1992. The idea of eating in big, comfortable chairs while watching a movie was an instant hit, and people are now enjoying five Smitty’s Cinemas across Maine and New Hampshire. The New England chain has installed laser projectors – NEC NC1100Ls – in several theatres.
