As the nation’s only buying group for exhibitors, the ICA plays a vital role in leveling the playing field and building a competitive position for independent cinemas operating throughout North America.
Christie Digital Cinema is providing projection technology for the Lavazza IncluCity Festival, organized by the ICFF. This year’s festivities will transform the iconic cobblestone streets of Toronto’s Distillery Historic District into an outdoor cinema village, celebrating multiculturalism and the best of international cinema from June 27 to July 15. After two successful years as the Lavazza Drive-In Film Festival, the festival welcomes moviegoers to the new cinema village.

Showtime Cinemas, the second largest movie theatre chain in Taiwan, has deployed Christie’s RGB pure laser cinema projection systems in all auditoriums at the new Gangshan Showtime Cinemas in Kaohsiung. This is the largest multiplex opened by Showtime Cinemas in southern Taiwan to date, with 13 screens and a total capacity of 1,428 seats. Housed within an upmarket shopping mall known as Showtime Live Gangshan, it boasts a flagship Super Cinema auditorium featuring a giant screen measuring 20 meters wide and 11 meters high (65 feet by 36 feet), setting a record for the largest screen in southern Taiwan.
CinemaNext and Omniplex Cinema Group, Ireland’s largest cinema circuit, today announced the signing of an agreement for the sale and roll out of RGB+ Laser-light source upgrades from Cinionic and light engine cleaning for Barco Series 2 projectors in 51 Omniplex auditoriums.
PVR Cinemas, India’s largest film exhibition company, has announced an expanded preferred partnership agreement with Cinionic. Under the terms of the agreement, Cinionic will install Barco Series 4 4K laser projection systems in 500 PVR Cinemas auditoriums.
Odeon Cinemas Group and Imax Corporation today announced an expansion of their longstanding partnership spanning key European cinema markets. Under the agreement, Odeon will upgrade six Imax theatres across the UK with Imax with laser systems.
