NCM Media Networks held its third annual The Bigger Picture cinema upfront event in New York City on May 14th to unveil a variety of new ways the company is offering advertisers to take advantage of the big screen’s superior content, reach and engagement.
The 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes unleashed a cross-species thriller and, on July 11, the sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, directed by Matt Reeves and shot by cinematographer Michael Seresin will debut in U.S. theatres. Although most 3D movies currently are shot in 2D and converted to 3D in post-production, this movie was shot in native 3D. Seresin, who also shot a significant portion of Gravity, faced his first experience shooting native 3D. Although he doesn’t consider himself a “technical cinematographer,” Seresin felt confident. “Lighting, composition, and camera moves is what I like,” he says.
Christie has been selected by preferred partner Digital Media Systems to provide the 3D digital cinema projection technology for the world premiere of 20th Century Fox’s film X-Men: Days of Future Past on Saturday, May 10. The TEDx Sydney conference on April 26 will feature a breakthrough film by Kate Kazokas and Lucy Adelaide. Titled John Was A Good Man, the short film features actors from across Australia including Jane Caro, Dr Karl, Paul McDermott, Matt Moran, Andrew O’Keefe, Turia Pitt, Jessica Tovey, Urthboy and Fred Nile. Each of the participants tells a short eulogy of their lives to date, using the third person and with video images of themselves being projected onto their own faces to heighten the sense of self-analysis.
