Technicolor-PostWorks New York marked its third collaboration with Darren Aronofsky in providing post-production services for Noah, the director’s epic inspired by the story of Noah in the Old Testament. The facility provided everything from 35mm film processing to editorial conforming and final color grading.
Columbia Pictures’ The Amazing Spider Man 2 marks a groundbreaking collaboration between visual effects, sound and post-production teams from Sony Pictures Entertainment. The Academy Award-winning Sony Pictures Imageworks crafted over 1000 visual effects shots, Sony Pictures Post Production provided sound – its first project in in Dolby Atmos – and Colorworks performed film scanning, conforming and color grading all in 4K.
Pioneering London facilities company Onsight has purchased two Precision Panels to help drive their Mistika grading and finishing suites in 4K, 3D and HD. They will be installed at the company’s new WC2 premises by St Martins Lane, which also includes 4K projection.
SpectraCal announced today what the company says is a major technological advance in the process used to correct the color performance of professional reference monitors. Called Dynamic Linearity Correction (DLC), the new software algorithms added to SpectraCal’s CalMAN Studio software help enable the widespread adoption of monitor correction with three-dimensional look-up tables.
SGO today announced that its flagship color grading and finishing platform, Mistika, now supports Dolby Vision technology, enabling the display of high dynamic range images with wider color gamut capabilities. SGO, working in close collaboration with Dolby, will look to make the Dolby Vision workflow capabilities available in Mistika from version 8.2, which was previewed at NAB and is due for release shortly after IBC 2014.

SGO released Mistika v8 earlier this month at the National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas. Mistika v8 features an advanced and complete color grading toolset. Each one of an infinite number of color correction layers contains every grading tool within the system including: primaries, fixed vectors, custom curves, and Mistika’s own enhanced five ball primary system – bands.
