CinemaNext has equipped Paris’ Pathé Wepler Cinema with EclairColor projection technology. In conjunction with the installation, Eclair’s post-production teams have remastered Lisa Azuelos’ Dalida, opening in cinemas across France January 11, using EclairColor digital color technology.
Versatile colorist Dan Hermelin has joined Roundabout Entertainment as the facility continues to build its talent pool and broaden its services for picture finishing and restoration. Hermelin arrives with more than 20 years of post-production experience and a resume spanning features, television and restoration project, the latter including re-masters of Jerry Maguire, Men in Black and The Deep. At Roundabout, he will continue to service a diverse clientele, including his current project, the animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Nickelodeon.
Cognition recently completed post on Underwater, a new 360 video created by Soma Fashion Network for the HTC Vive virtual reality system. The facility’s engineering team designed a custom workflow that allowed senior colorist Mike Eaves to grade the video in real time and view the results in 360-space. The groundbreaking process paves the way for other VR projects and keeps Cognition at the forefront of the new medium.
Created by former 60 Minutes producers Joel Bach and David Gelber, the National Geographic Channel’s documentary series Years of Living Dangerously won a 2014 Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. European entertainment company Sky has installed two FilmLight Baselight 4K color-grading systems in its post-production department. The new systems will allow Sky to serve the increasing technological demands of external clients as well as in-house departments at the company’s headquarters at Osterley, West London.
Ymagis Group today announced its upcoming line-up of feature films available in EclairColor and the equipping of 14 EclairColor auditoriums in 11 cinemas in France. Following Aquarius, Brice 3, Iris and Voyage au Groenland, the following films are scheduled to be released in EclairColor in the first half of 2017: Olivier Assayas’ Personal Shopper (Les Films du Losange/CG Cinéma/), Dalida by Liza Azuelos (Pathé Films/Pathé Distribution), Serge Hazavanicius’ Tout là-haut (Rouge International/UGC Distribution), Très intime conviction by Claude Lelouch (Les Films 13) and Message from the King by Fabrice Du Welz (Entertainment One/The Jokers).

Soundbreaking: Stories from the Cutting Edge of Recorded Music provides a fascinating portrait of the melding of art and technology in the development of popular music. The eight-part PBS documentary finished at Technicolor PostWorks New York. Produced by Show of Force and directed by Maro Chermayeff and Jeff Dupre, the series reaches back to the 1920s, when music was first committed to vinyl, but focuses in particular on the period from the 1960s to the present and the revolution that was set in motion by the late Sir George Martin and the Beatles through their innovative use of multi-tracking.
Ymagis Group today reported its consolidated revenue figures for the third quarter of 2016 and first nine months of the 2016 fiscal year ended September 30. With third quarter 2016 revenue up +11.6 percent at €42.3 million, Ymagis Group reported a marked increase in sales during the first nine months of the 2016 fiscal year at €125.9M, representing an increase of +18.7 percent.
Marauders, a tense, noir-ish thriller released by Lionsgate Premiere and director Steven C. Miller, recently became the first feature finished in Cognition’s new 4K digital intermediate theatre. The project used an Academy Color Encoding System workflow.
