La La Land Releases in EclairColor in France

Ymagis Group today announced the EclairColor release of Liongate’s La La Land, which opens in cinemas across France January 25. Distributed by SND - M6 Group and directed by Damien Chazelle, La La Land, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, will be available exclusively in EclairColor in the following cinemas: Gaumont Champs-Elysées (Paris, 8th arrondissement), Pathé Wepler (Paris, 18th arrondissement), Les Confluences (Varenne-sur-Seine) and Le Sirius (Le Havre).

Creating an ACES Workflow

Award-winning cinematographer Theo Van De Sande ASC was an early supporter of the Academy Color Encoding System, using version 0.2.2 on civil war drama Deliverance Creek in 2013, which was nominated for the ASC Award for Television. Since then he has been a staunch supporter, using ACES on numerous TV shows and pilots. When he was offered the chance to shoot Bad Santa 2 for Miramax, he turned again to ACES for his color-processing pipeline.

Colorist Dan Hermelin Joins Roundabout Entertainment

Versatile colorist Dan Hermelin has joined Roundabout Entertainment as the facility continues to build its talent pool and broaden its services for picture finishing and restoration. Hermelin arrives with more than 20 years of post-production experience and a resume spanning features, television and restoration project, the latter including re-masters of Jerry Maguire, Men in Black and The Deep. At Roundabout, he will continue to service a diverse clientele, including his current project, the animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Nickelodeon.

Cognition Completes VR Post for Underwater

Cognition recently completed post on Underwater, a new 360 video created by Soma Fashion Network for the HTC Vive virtual reality system. The facility’s engineering team designed a custom workflow that allowed senior colorist Mike Eaves to grade the video in real time and view the results in 360-space. The groundbreaking process paves the way for other VR projects and keeps Cognition at the forefront of the new medium.

Created by former 60 Minutes producers Joel Bach and David Gelber, the National Geographic Channel’s documentary series Years of Living Dangerously won a 2014 Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. The series has earned wide praise for its thought-provoking stories on the human and environmental costs of climate change. It is also notable for its outstanding production value from the epic imagery captured by production teams operating around the globe to the detailed color treatments applied during post.

EclairColor Gaining Momentum in France

Sixteen19 adds Second 4K DI Theatre
