In yet another sign that the motion picture business is emerging from the worst of the pandemic, over the weekend, the Walt Disney Company Marvel Studios action film Black Widow was released in the ScreenX format. ScreenX, from CJ4DPlex, is the world's premiere multi-projection system that provides a 270-degree panoramic film viewing experience.
Severtson Screens will feature its SAT-4K cinema projection screen line during CinemaCon 2021, which is being held August 23-26 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Severtson Screens is celebrating its 35th anniversary. “Severtson Corporation started in 1986, literally in our parents’ house,” explained Toby Severtson, president & CEO. “The company’s first job was with Arizona’s own Williams Air Force Base in response to the U.S. Air Force’s need to find both a quality optical coating and a uniform application process for the interior of their domed flight simulators.”
Tokyo Theatres Company’s Theatre Shinjuku recently installed a 14-foot by 30.5-foot Severtson SAT-4K projection screen as part of an overall audio and video revitalization of the famed Tokyo cinema.
The family entertainment company FatCats has opened a new theatre in Queen Creek, Arizona. The cinema has eight auditoriums and is the company’s ninth location. This newest FatCats had its grand opening April 16.

The International Cinema Technology Association, in conjunction Box Office Pro magazine, recently presented a webinar entitled Back to the Future – How Drive-Ins and Pop-Up Cinema Complements the Movie Going Experience in the COVID-19 Aftermath. Moderated by ICTA vice president Frank Tees, the group presented five interviews describing innovative approaches to exhibiting movies outdoors.
CinemaNext France recently equipped the Horizon auditorium at Megarama’s multiplex in the Paris suburb of Villeneuve-la-Garenne with a new 26-metre wide and 12.5-metre high screen, the largest cinema screen installed in a multiplex in France, as well as Dolby Atmos immersive sound in time for the August 26 release of Christopher Nolan's Tenet from Warner Bros.
