Last month at CineEurope, Harkness Screens’ chief technology officer Laurent Espitalier became the first Harkness staffer to sit in on a Union Internationale des Cinémas | International Union of Cinemas Round Table talking about exhibition and laser speckle. Cinity was this year’s winner of the Technical Achievement Award at CineEurope 2022. This is the first time a premium high-tech film brand from China has won this prestigious award at a major trade exhibition, and it is a starting point for the global expansion of Cinity. Cinionic and China Film Group teamed up to bring attendees at CineEurope 2022 a first look at 20th Century Studios’ Avatar: The Way of Water releasing later this year. The film was presented using China Film Group’s Cinity technology. James Cameron’s next high-end feature is coming to theatres in December 2022.
Showtime Cinemas, the second largest movie theatre chain in Taiwan, has deployed Christie’s RGB pure laser cinema projection systems in all auditoriums at the new Gangshan Showtime Cinemas in Kaohsiung. This is the largest multiplex opened by Showtime Cinemas in southern Taiwan to date, with 13 screens and a total capacity of 1,428 seats. Housed within an upmarket shopping mall known as Showtime Live Gangshan, it boasts a flagship Super Cinema auditorium featuring a giant screen measuring 20 meters wide and 11 meters high (65 feet by 36 feet), setting a record for the largest screen in southern Taiwan.
CinemaNext has signed a service agreement with leading Scandinavian cinema chain Nordisk Film Cinemas to oversee remote technical support services for Nordisk’s entire network of 47 locations across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, representing a total of 258 screens.
