ICTA Names the Winners of the 2021-2022 EMEA Awards

The International Cinema Technology Association today announced the 2021-2022 winners of the ICTA EMEA Awards, celebrating technological leadership, design, and innovation in the cinema exhibition sector in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The winners will be celebrated during ICTA’s annual awards and dinner reception October 3 in Barcelona, just before the start of CineEurope. This year’s winners are:

The International Cinema Technology Association 2020-2021 award for innovation in cinema exhibition in Europe, the Middle East and Africa goes to Muvi Cinema, U-Walk, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for Best New Build Cinema; to Cineplexx, Millennium City, Vienna, Austria for Best Cinema Refurbishment; and to Pathé Tuschinski, Amsterdam, The Netherlands for Classic Cinema of the Year.

Steve Munga is a truly inspiring entrepreneur. Four years ago he realized his dream and opened his first movie theatre, CineKin, and his first movie distribution company, MSKD, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. That they were the first movie theatre and distribution company opened in the country is only part of the story. European exhibitor Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumont is installing more than 200 Barco Series 4 laser projectors. Cinionic, the Barco, CGS, and ALPD cinema joint venture, will power Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumont’s new builds in France and Africa, beginning with its new theater in Sousse Tunisia, Africa. Currently, Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumont operates more than 100 theaters across European and African countries. Together the companies will upgrade new and existing Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumont theaters to bring an elevated movie-going experience for its audiences.

Influx Extends Technology Support Offer for African Cinemas

Announcing its participation in the Emerging Cinema Markets conference in Istanbul November 19-21, Influx Worldwide has extended its dedicated African program of cinema technology products and services for African movie theatres – It’s Showtime for Africa – into 2020. The program is offered on a low- to no-cost basis to qualifying cinema exhibitors, to enable digital movie ticketing, loyalty and subscription programs for moviegoers across the continent.
