DCS Events has announced that the 2019 Emerging Cinema Markets conference will return to Istanbul this November. Special focus will be given this year to Turkey, Africa, the Balkans, Central Asia and other emerging countries. There will also be an update on the Gulf Cooperation Council cinema industry hosted by The Big Picture Cinema Consultants. Keynote speakers and the full schedule will be announced over the coming months.
Presented by DCS Events in association with The Big Picture and SISAY, the Turkish Exhibitors Association, the Emerging Cinema Markets 2018 conference is set to begin November 20 in Istanbul. The three-day conference will focus on the Turkish, Middle East, Central Asia, Balkans and the African markets and includes key speakers and presenters who will outline the current issues facing emerging markets.

Vox Cinemas has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Myrkott, the Saudi production company behind the YouTube animated series Masameer that has attracted more than 700 million views across social media. The development marks the first of its kind deal with a Saudi production company and will see Myrkott content screened across the Middle East and North Africa, including the distribution of a forthcoming feature film based on the YouTube show.
CinemaNext today announced the official opening of CinemaNext Middle East & Africa in Jebel Ali Free Zone, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Cinema industry professional Francois Inizan will serve as its general manager.
Malaysian exhibitor MBO Cinemas has fully deployed Arts Alliance Media’s enterprise theatre management system software, Producer. MBO Cinemas is the first exhibitor in South East Asia to centralize all their operations at head office with AAM’s Producer. The Goldenduck Group managed the system integration.
Vista Group International has agreed to pursue a partnership with German independent cinema operator Yorck Kinogruppe, Berlin’s premier art house cinema chain. Yorck Kinos plans to work with two Vista Group companies: Vista Entertainment and Movio. Yorck Kinos is Movio’s first German customer.
Barco has announced that more than 50 theater complexes, including 20 in EMEA, are now all-Barco laser multiplexes, utilizing a combination of Barco Flagship Laser and Smart Laser projectors.
