With the French box office surging, Imax has unveiled ambitious plans for expansion in the country as it aims to nearly triple the number of its systems from the 22 currently in operation to more than 60.
B&B Theatres has selected the GDC Technology’s SR-1000 Standalone Integrated Media Block with CineCache and built-in cinema audio processor for 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound for its Creve Coeur West Olive 10 luxury entertainment center. Nine of the auditoriums will offer moviegoers surround sound and B&B’s signature premium large format auditorium, Grand Screen with ScreenX, will offer guests the ultimate audio experience featuring DTS:X for immersive audio bitstream sound
CJ 4DPlex together with Universal Pictures, announced that Fast X, the new chapter in the global blockbuster Fast & Furious Saga, in theaters this Friday, May 19, will debut in the 270-degree panoramic ScreenX format. This is the first time a Universal Studios' film from the Fast & Furious franchise will premiere in the visually immersive theatres.

AMC Theatres has announced plans, set to begin later this year, to bring Laser Projection by Cinionic to its premium large format brand Prime at AMC.
CJ 4DPlex has announced a new partnership with Cinionic to power the global ScreenX format with Barco laser projection. The deal names Cinionic as the global laser projection partner for ScreenX, covering future ScreenX installs and renewals of older sites.
EVO Entertainment Group and Imax Corporation have announced a partnership to install eight new Imax with Laser systems. This marks the first-ever collaboration between the two companies. As part of the agreement, EVO will bring seven new Imax systems to Texas, including Houston and Austin, and one to Florida. The new systems are expected to begin opening in the third quarter of 2023.
The French exhibition company Megarama has reached an agreement for three new Imax systems in France and Morocco. The new deal will more than triple Imax's footprint with Megarama and bring the number of Imax systems in France to 29, including 23 currently open and another six set for installation.
Imax has set a new company record for first quarter box office in 2023 with $282.2 million — beating its previous best record, set in 2016, by more than $10 million. The record-breaking results were powered by a potent global mix of releases; the first quarter now stands as Imax’s highest grossing quarter ever for local language releases and also saw the stunning performance of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water.
