Codex has developed a fully integrated recording and workflow system for Canon’s new Cinema EOS C700 camera. The combination of Codex with the EOS C700 camera allows for high-speed 4.5K Raw recording at up to 100fps, 4K Raw at up to 120fps, 4K Apple ProRes at up to 60fps, 2K Apple ProRes at up to 240fps.
Panasonic has added five camera kit packages for the VariCam LT Super 35mm Cinema Camera with the addition of the ProEX-B512 package.
SmallHD has released the first firmware update for its line of 17-inch, 24-inch and 32-inch production monitors. “Based on industry and customer feedback, we created the greatly expanded firmware 1.0,” said company co-founder Wes Phillips. “We’ve integrated a ton of features to customize color and brightness. Assimilate’s Scratch 8.5, build 909, now includes support for Red’s new 8K Weapon Helium Sensor, as well as the 8K Weapon VistaVision-sized full frame sensor. Support includes the Log3G10 gamma space and RedWideGamutRGB color space.

Stray Angel Films, a Los Angeles-based digital motion picture rental, production and production services company, has purchased six Cartoni Focus 12 fluid heads and tripods from Manios Digital & Film. The company has added the fluid heads to its rental inventory and is including them in packages for mid-sized cameras.
Panasonic has announced that an AG Remote Operation Panel application facilitating remote control of the AG-DVX200PJ 4K camcorder from an iPad is immediately available as a free download from the Apple App Store. Installation of a wireless module, AJ-WM30 or ASUS USB-N53 (both sold separately), is required. The firmware in the camcorder may need to be updated to the newest version. With iPad, iOS7.1, iOS8.1, iOS9 are supported. iPhone is not supported.
Wildlife cinematographer Danny Schmidt plunged into Colombia’s remote Magdalena River Valley earlier this year to document the plight of the critically endangered brown spider monkey in a project for National Geographic. Schmidt and camera operator Federico Pardo had just eight days to locate the rare albino spider monkeys (their albinism is a genetic abnormality cause by habitat degradation), record their story and capture the fragile environment in which they live.
