The Dark Place tells the story of Keegan Dark, who has the uncanny ability to remember his life in videographic detail. Both a blessing and a curse, Dark uncovers a conspiracy that frames him for murder, threatens his inheritance, and endangers his family’s lives and livelihood. When director Jody Wheeler began shopping for a post-house to complete his feature film The Dark Place, he chose AlphaDogs because he had been told of their excellent reputation in working with independent filmmakers.

Trinity Studios Mixes New Tamil Films in Auro 11.1 by Barco

Indian post-production house Trinity Digy Labs — owned by sound engineers J. Prakash and A. S. Lakshminarayan — has recently installed the Auro-3D Studio System. To date, Lakshminarayan and his team have already mixed the successful 2014 thriller Jilla (R. T. Neason), Aarambham directed by Vishnuvardhan, Vizhi Moodi Yosithaal directed by KG Senthil Kumar and the much-anticipated historical drama Ramanujan, directed by Gnana Rajasekaran, in Auro-3D.

LipSync provided equity investment and full post services on Starred Up, the award-winning film starring Jack O’Connell, Ben Mendelsohn and Rupert Friend, telling the story of a troubled and violent teen who meets his father in prison. The film, produced by Sigma Films, will open in the UK on March 21.

Spider-Man 2 Declares Truce in Sound Format War

Spidey has decided to call a truce in the cinema sound format war. Sony Pictures Entertainment is teaming with Dolby and Barco to mix The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in both Auro 11.1 and Dolby Atmos cinema sound. The movie will be released in theaters internationally beginning April 16 and domestically on May 2. The move will no doubt increase the number of movie theatres available to show the movie.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Premiere’s December 2 at Dolby Theatre

Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, and the second installment in the Hobbit film trilogy, will hold its worldwide premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Dolby 3D and Dolby Atmos sound on Monday, December 2.
