The Motion Picture Sound Editors has announced that Tom Cruise will be among the presenters at the 70th Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards. The three-time Academy Award nominee and star and producer of this year’s $1.4 billion box office hit Top Gun: Maverick, will present fellow producer Jerry Bruckheimer with the MPSE’s annual Filmmaker Award.

Pelosi Documentary Sound, Picture Finishing Completed at Goldcrest

Gwendolyn Yates Whittle to Receive MPSE Career Achievement Award

The Motion Picture Sound Editors will honor two-time Academy Award-nominated supervising sound editor Gwendolyn Yates Whittle with its 2023 Career Achievement Award. Whittle, whose more than 150 film and television credits include Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Minority Report, Munich, Iron Man, Cloverfield, Jurassic World and Fight Club, will receive the award at the 70th MPSE Golden Reel Awards February 26, at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles.

Among the most prolific and successful film and television producers of all time, Bruckheimer is responsible for such big-screen spectacles as the Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure, Bad Boys and Beverly Hills Cop franchises, and the hits Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, Remember the Titans, Armageddon, The Rock, Crimson Tide, Top Gun and Flashdance.

Bullet Train, from Sony Pictures and director David Leitch centers on an unlucky assassin named Ladybug (Brad Pitt), determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails. Fate, however, has other plans as Ladybug's latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe —all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives— on the world's fastest train. Post-production sound for Bullet Train was based at Sony Pictures Post Production Services and presented a myriad of creative opportunities through its furious action, whip-smart comedy, crackling dialogue and ripping-good story.
