Undeterred by this year’s COVID-19 health challenges, Éclair Versioning & Accessibility has added a new state-of-the-art recording room to the Vanves’ facility as part of a wider reorganization of its Parisian studios, which included changes and upgrades to a number of its recording studios. The company has also opened a new dubbing facility in Barcelona.

Called “one of the most prescient films of the decade,” She Dies Tomorrow from Neon and writer/director Amy Seimetz, centers on a woman who believes she is about to die from a mysterious illness that is also highly contagious. The psychological thriller, which recently went through sound and picture finishing at Goldcrest Post in New York, delves into universal feelings of anxiety and dread through a story that blends horror, humor, drama and the surreal. Seimetz used sound to convey the feeling of fear.
Discovery Network’s Journey to the Future, produced by Storied Media, is a documentary focused on the behind-the-scenes lead-up to America’s historic SpaceX Falcon 9 launch. Several packages were also produced for use throughout the live broadcasts. Among the professionals who worked tirelessly on these projects was re-recording mixer Michael Phillips Keeley, CAS, who helped create the soundscape.
When Chicago-based Periscope Post & Audio launched its Hollywood facility last year, it was targeting Southern California’s boom in film and television production. STMPD Recording Studios in Amsterdam recently completed an extensive three-year renovation, bringing its total number of studios to eight, including a 135 square-meter Dolby Atmos Premier Studio. With just nine Dolby Atmos Premier studios in the world, and only two others in Europe, STMPD recording studios joins a very exclusive club.
Nugen Audio has released the latest version of its Halo Downmix, which now increases the compatibility of the software allowing for greater flexibility and collaboration across a broad spectrum of project types. Nugen has also broadened the plug-in’s channel count support to address less common output formats. With this update, Halo Downmix is capable of downmixing from 7.1 and 5.1 to any of the following configurations: 7.0, 6.1, 6.0, 5.1, 5.0 and 4.0, as well as LCR and stereo. With the optional 3D extension, downmixing from 7.1.2 is also supported.
