Cineplex today announced that it had added new immersive theatre formats 4DX and ScreenX in locations across Canada. The multi-sensory 4DX experience is now open at three new locations: Cineplex Cinemas Winston Churchill in Oakville, Ontario; Cineplex Cinemas Hamilton Mountain in Stoney Creek, Ontario; and Scotiabank Theatre Edmonton in Edmonton, Alberta.
B&B Theatres has opened its eighth MX4D theatre system in Wylie, Texas, a growing Northeast suburb of Dallas. The first film to play there in MX4D is Sony's Jumanji the Next Level, followed by the imminent engagement of Disney's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Sony Pictures Entertainment is releasing Jumanji: The Next Level for CJ 4DPlex’s 4DX multi-sensory, motion synchronized seating and for the 270-degree panoramic screens of ScreenX. The film opens in North American theatres nationwide on December 13.

As 4DX and ScreenX have been rapidly expanding worldwide, the company implemented the new branding to increase brand consistency for 4DX and ScreenX. Pathé Utrecht Leidsche Rijn, the Netherlands, is the 700th auditorium to install CJ 4DPlex’s 4DX immersive seating technology.
CJ4DPlex and The Walt Disney Studios have announced the release of 20th Century Fox’s Ford v Ferrari in the 270-degree, panoramic ScreenX format. Ford v Ferrari in ScreenX will be coming to theatres worldwide beginning November 13 and will be releasing on 270 screens, across 27 countries, including 32 screens in the U.S. with Regal Cinemas, B&B Theatres and CGV Cinemas. The film opens in the U.S. on November 15.
The multi-sensory 4DX format from CJ 4DPlex drew $22 million at the global box office in October, which, according to the company is an increase of 16 percent year-over-year, making it the highest ever recorded for the month of October in the history of the company.
Cineworld has renovated its Newport Spytty Park theatre with three premium formats to create the most immersive cinema in Wales. Mo Williams, general manager of Cineworld Newport Spytty Park said, “We are absolutely delighted to be the first in the area to open 4DX, ScreenX and Superscreen [auditoriums] in the one cinema. I can’t wait to welcome movie fans from Newport and beyond to visit the most immersive cinema in Wales.”
