Burbank, California post house Roundabout has purchased a Quantel Rio 4K online editing, color and finishing tool from SAM for editorial and restoration work on multiple films.
Veteran editor, visual effects artist and creative director Craig Price has joined Roundabout Entertainment. Price will serve as a finishing editor in the facility’s growing digital intermediate department. In his first project with Roundabout, Price performed final editing for director Tommy Bertelsen’s indie thriller Feed. He also designed and executed the film’s main title sequence. Upcoming work includes a project for director Terrence Mallick.
MTI Film has completed a major expansion of its Hollywood facility designed to accommodate growing demand for post-production services and support for high dynamic range content. The expansion includes the addition of two new color-grading suites and an editorial finishing suite, all HDR capable.
Writer-director Nicolas Pesce’s debut feature, The Eyes of My Mother was finished at Technicolor PostWorks New York. The film is packed with heart-pounding moments, made all the more chilling by an artfully crafted black and white look captured by cinematographer Zach Kuperstein (also making his feature debut) and finished by colorist Sam Daley

Leslie Carney has more than twenty years of experience in television post-production. Working as post supervisor for MTV's Stranded with a Million Dollars, which will air February 21, she recently delivered 10 one-hour episodes. An efficient workflow has rarely been more critical. “The show was challenging,” said Carney. “It was shot over 40-days using 14 different types of cameras, including RoboCams and 4K Drones. We had to deal with a massive amount of media and all kinds of frame-rates and codecs.”

The eight-part PBS documentary finished at Technicolor PostWorks New York. Produced by Show of Force and directed by Maro Chermayeff and Jeff Dupre, the series reaches back to the 1920s, when music was first committed to vinyl, but focuses in particular on the period from the 1960s to the present and the revolution that was set in motion by the late Sir George Martin and the Beatles through their innovative use of multi-tracking.
The post-production team for the Canadian family drama series Backstage is again relying Facilis TerraBlock for their collaborative editorial workflow for its second season. Ellen Fine, CCE (Canada Cinema Editor) is the supervising editor and consulting producer on Backstage. The series is produced by Fresh TV and distributed by DHX. It currently airs on the Family Channel in Canada and on the Disney Channel in the US and worldwide.
