Today, 10 founding companies and 50 forming companies have announced their collaboration to create the entertainment industry's first association focused specifically on entertainment globalization. The Entertainment Globalization Association has been formed to create a closer connection to the creative community to better facilitate the retelling of their stories for global audiences. Globalization is defined as dubbing, subtitling, and audio description services, which allow content to be consumed in languages other than the original version. Following recent decisions requiring the closure of cinemas across a number of European countries in response to spikes in COVID-19, European trade body the International Union of Cinemas in a statement today renewed its call to national governments, the European Commission and the European Parliament to provide further public funding support to the sector to ensure that cinemas are able to survive the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis.
