Codex Supports Captain America, Other Summer Movies

Marvel Studios used Codex recording technology to streamline the capture-to-post workflow on several high-profile productions, the most recent of these being Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Cinematographer Trent Opaloch chose to frame the action in a widescreen anamorphic format, captured by Arri Alexa Plus cameras shooting ArriRaw with a 4:3 sensor and Codex Onboard S recorders.

Legend3D Upgrades Facility with an SGO Mistika System

Legend3D has announced that has purchased a Mistika 3D system from SGO. It will integrate its Mistika post-production system with two Assist Stations into the conversion and visual effects pipeline at the company's 60,000 square foot studio with multiple theatres and R&D facilities. With the capacity to work on up to three full feature films and multiple commercials concurrently, Legend3D has delivered projects such as The Lego Movie, Man of Steel, Life of Pi, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Smurfs 1 & 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and many others.

With this integration, users of the LightSpace CMS can now perform automated calibration of any display using the IS-Mini as a patch and signal generator, under direct control of LightSpace CMS, building custom calibration LUTs that can be directly up-loaded into the IS-mini.

ASG to Host Technology Happy Hours in Pacific Northwest

Advanced Systems Group will host two Technology Trending Happy Hours, sponsored by Quantum and Adobe, for video professionals in the Pacific Northwest. The first event will be February 12 at Rock Bottom Brewery in Bellevue, Washington and the second will be February 13 at Rock Bottom Brewery in Portland, Oregon.
